Below is a list of the most common geo-location errors and solutions:
“Technical error in geolocation”
- If you are using an Android device, you need to upgrade the app to the latest version. You can upgrade by clicking here using your Android device. If you attempt to open the link from a computer or any other source you will receive an error.
- Our geolocation service does NOT support Chrome OS devices. Please use a device with an alternative operating system to access your WSOP.com account.
“We're unable to verify your location through Wi-Fi”
- Make sure your Wi-Fi is turned on. This also applies if you're playing from a mobile device, such as an iPad or Smartphone. Click here for instructions on how to turn on your Wi-Fi.
- You don’t need to be connected to the Internet using Wi-Fi, but you should be able to see Wi-Fi networks from your computer.
- If your device does not have Wi-Fi capabilities,many players have found success using a Wi-Fi Adapter which can be purchased at most major retailers and/or electronic stores.
- If you're situated in a tall building and on a high floor, this can also have a negative effect and prevent your location from being accurately pinpointed using Wi-Fi. Please ensure that you're located as close to ground level as possible and able to detect other Wi-Fi networks.
- When you're connecting to WSOP.com from a mobile device using 3G/4G and we’re unable to verify your location via Wi-Fi, we’ll use a combination of your Wi-Fi signal, GPS location and cellphone carrier data, to confirm that you’re login in/playing from within New Jersey. Please ensure that GPS is enabled on your device, and you're within good cellular network range.

“We've detected remote control software on your machine”
- If you have remote desktop software such as 'LogMeIn' or 'GoToMyPC' running on your laptop or desktop device, you will not be able to access real money gaming. You will need to quit these programs and ensure they are no longer running on your device.

- Also, if you're running proxy or VPN software, such as 'Witopia', 'OpenVPN', or 'HMA', you will not be able to access real money gaming. Please close such programs and try login into your WSOP.com account again.
“Too close to state border”
- If you're playing near the state borders, we might not be able to accurately determine your location, please move further into Nevada and try again.
